End of Term Newsletter: Thursday 21st May
Dear Parents and Carers,
Here we are at the end of another wonderful half term, and what a busy and successful six weeks it has been at St Michael’s. Across the school, the children have shown tremendous enthusiasm for learning, creativity in their work and kindness towards one another. It has been lovely to see classrooms filled with curiosity, teamwork and perseverance as topics have drawn to a close and children have reflected on all they have achieved this term. We are incredibly proud of all that the children have achieved and are already looking forward to the exciting opportunities and experiences that the final half term of the academic year will bring.
This week, some of the children from The Hub enjoyed a fantastic trip to the rail station, where they had the opportunity to enjoy a drink and cake together whilst exploring the local area. Along the way, the children stopped at different points to investigate and spot interesting things around them, showing great curiosity and enthusiasm throughout the visit. The children represented the school brilliantly with their excellent behaviour, thoughtful conversations and positive attitudes, and we were incredibly proud of how well they engaged with the experience.
During Collective Worship this week, we were pleased to welcome Reverend Nigel into school. He shared the story of Joseph with the children and spoke thoughtfully about the importance of forgiveness and persistence. The children reflected on how Joseph continued to show kindness and trust, even during difficult times, and how we too can learn to persevere when things are challenging and show forgiveness towards others. It was a wonderful opportunity for the children to think deeply about resilience, compassion and the importance of treating others with love and understanding.
We delighted to come together for our final Celebration Assembly of the half term. It was a joyful occasion where we celebrated all of our Stars of the Week and recognised the many wonderful achievements across the school. We were also incredibly proud to celebrate Quincy, Stanley and George for their fantastic performances in rugby - a wonderful achievement and example of dedication and teamwork. Congratulations to all of the children who were recognised this week; your efforts, talents and kindness help make St Michael’s such a special place to be.
This week’s special pupil recognition goes to George P in Year 4. George showed incredible kindness and helpfulness during our school trip this week, volunteering to help pull the wagon carrying equipment and resources for the other children without complaint. George, thank you for demonstrating such thoughtfulness and teamwork - you are a wonderful role model for our school community.
Chapter 6 of The Mottlesnatch has now been shared, and we encourage all children to continue taking part. Each completed entry earns five house points and contributes towards the House Cup competition.
